Brad Paquette, a public official from Michigan, posted a series of statements on his social media account on March 18, 2026. In these posts, he addressed issues related to election integrity and the balance of power between federal and state governments.
In one post dated March 18, 2026, Paquette stated: “Form letters are being sent in and they highlight an area where I must stand in disagreement with a few of these constituents. American citizens should be the only ones voting in our elections.”
Later that day, Paquette shared personal reflections about music from his youth and broader political views. On March 18, 2026, he wrote: “Grew up listening to these guys. My ma broke the cds when she found them. Might have to start listening again. The People are sovereign. The federal government is too powerful. States are the tool. Make states great again. Take the power back.” In a subsequent post on the same day, he added: “Sorry ma”.
The issue of non-citizen voting has been debated at both state and national levels in recent years as some municipalities have considered or implemented measures allowing non-citizens to participate in certain local elections.
Paquette’s comments reflect ongoing discussions regarding federalism in the United States—a system that divides powers between state governments and the federal government—and echo calls for greater autonomy for states within this framework.
