Red Bud Trail is currently closed to traffic between Little Glendora Road and Grange Road in Buchanan and Oronoko Townships, following weather-related erosion, according to an announcement on April 6.

The closure affects drivers traveling near the closest cities of Berrien Springs and Buchanan. Officials say the road will remain shut until repairs are completed, with an estimated reopening in May. The timeline for reopening depends on work progression and weather conditions.

“Due to weather related erosion Red Bud Trail is currently closed to traffic between Little Glendora Road and Grange Road. Until repairs are made and road reopened, all thru traffic will be required to seek alternative routes,” the announcement said.

During this period, no through traffic will be permitted along the affected section of Red Bud Trail. A detour has been established using Little Glenora Road, Garr Road, Snow Road, and back onto Red Bud Trail.

The duration of the closure may change depending on repair progress or additional weather impacts. Officials have provided a one-page PDF with a location map and detour information for affected motorists.

This temporary closure highlights how severe weather can impact local infrastructure and require immediate attention from transportation authorities.
