MAUD PRESTON PALENSKE MEMORIAL LIBRARY: Library Announcements

Announcement

Maud Preston Palenske Memorial Library issued the following announcement.

After a brief staff meeting this morning and a discussion with our Board President (in alignment with our Emergency Closing Policy), we have decided that the library will remain closed (per the Michigan Library Association recommendations) through April 6th now.  This was a hard decision as we love our community and always love seeing you all in the library (under any other circumstance)! However, we need to do this in the interest of keeping our at-risk populations, staff, and you, our community members, safe and healthy.

IMPORTANT NOTE: WE HAVE AUTOMATICALLY EXTENDED DUE DATES THROUGH APRIL 13TH ON ALL MATERIALS OUT ON ALL ACCOUNTS. (That is about 14,000 items at this time.....so, please, if at all possible, keep your materials until we reopen!).  NO fines will accrue.  We ask that you please keep any items that you have checked out.  These items will not be due until after the library re-opens.

Additionally, staff will NOT be reporting to the library other than to retrieve the book drop. While we would have liked to try offering "curbside service" during this closure, we do not believe it would be wise to implement that at this time. Several staff either fall in the high-risk categories or have family members who are in high-risk categories. As such, staff will meet on Friday, April 3rd to reassess the situation at that time.

Due to the closure, the March Library Board meeting is also cancelled.

As noted before, please check here or on our website for any further updates. Also, please, once again, share this information far and wide (with those who don't have Internet access). As always, thank you for your continued support and understanding during these unusual times.
