Michigan Works! has transitioned all of its services to be accessible online or over the telephone.

Michigan Works! of Berrien, Cass and Van Buren Counties issued a statement saying that all service centers would be closed for walk-in services beginning March 24 and would instead transition to remote operations. Michigan Works! remains available to answer any questions and to assist the public and business owners across southwest Michigan.

To schedule a phone or virtual appointment with Michigan Works!, visit their website or call 269-927-1799.

Michigan Works! service center workshops, job fairs and large group activities are postponed until further notice. Unemployment claims can be filed online at Michigan.gov or by calling 1-866-500-0017. The requirement to appear in person at Michigan Works! to register is being waived.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed an order that temporarily expands unemployment benefits. The benefits will be increased from 20 to 26 weeks, and the application eligibility period has been extended from 14 to 28 days. The normal in-person registration and work search requirements will be suspended. Further details can be found on the Unemployment Insurance Agency Fact Sheet.
