Bangor High School issued the following announcement.

Viking Families:

Staff from Bangor Public Schools have been working with other members from all School Districts within the Van Buren Intermediate School District developing plans for "Return to School"  In the fall of 2020.  Approximately 200 people from over 11 School Districts have been meeting weekly, along with guidance from the Michigan Department of Education and the Van Buren/Cass health Department to address Stakeholder concerns with the Re-Opening of Schools throughout Michigan.

There are six focus groups addressing concerns and solutions for a safe return to normalcy.  Those focus groups are working in the following areas:

1. Learning & Instruction
2. Grading & Assessment
3. Instructional Technology
4. Health Protocols
5. Transportation
6. Special Education

Below you will find a short survey addressing the recent Continuity of Learning that districts were required to follow since March 16th, 2020.  Your input is greatly needed, as districts throughout Michigan are working on at least three different scenarios for the Fall of 2020.  Those scenarios include:  Return to School full time as prior to March 16th 2020, Development of a Blended learning environment (meaning students would possibly alternate days/times to meet Social Distancing requirement, or a possible "Remote Learning Environment until the COVID-19 is controlled.

Unfortunately, in March of this past spring, School Districts were not given time to truly plan how to best serve our students and families.  Now with the uncertainty still lingering, we have been working diligently to make sure that whatever directive we are given, we will have the best options available for all families.
