The St. Joseph-Benton Harbor Rotary Club Foundation is accepting applications for grants of up to $65,000 from nonprofit organizations.
Nonprofits and governmental organizations within the greater St. Joseph-Benton Harbor area are eligible to apply, but organizations that have been awarded grants for three consecutive years must wait a year before applying, a release posted by the foundation said.
Applications for efforts that seek to improve opportunities for youth and special-needs populations will likely receive the most consideration. Requests for ongoing operational funds and annual drives are deemed "low priority."
The foundation’s criteria is as follows: A proposal must focus on the Rotary International missions, the scope of impact on the community, response to emerging needs or new approaches to meet current needs, measurable outcomes and program evaluation method, collaboration within the community and elimination of duplication of services, and sustainability of the project and ongoing support.
