Decoding the Secrets of the Dead: Cemetery Symbols Explained. Join Berrien County Historical Association Executive Director, Rhiannon Cizon, as she explores the meaning behind common, and not so common, symbols found on tombstones from around the region. Gravestones have long been valuable to genealogist, but the information they can provide go beyond just names and dates. The symbols found on grave markers can tell us a lot about the person buried there or even our community.
