Bridgman Public Schools issued the following announcement on Jan 27.
Our first Learn by Heart thank you goes to Mr. Nicka, Social Studies teacher at Bridgman High School:
"Mr. Nicka is the reason why I am pursuing a degree in Public Administration. He consistently showed that he was open to all ideas, and navigated the complicated time of teaching politics during an explosive election very well. He always encourages us to think critically and openly about our opinions and ideas, and helped us become better able to have conversations about politics and economics. Because of his assignment where we had to go observe a city council meeting, I discovered my passion for local government and decided to pursue a career in Public Administration. I've been working with the Michigan Municipal League to pilot an internship program for local governments, and I attribute my love, passion, and skill in the field to Mr. Nicka. He truly is as good of a teacher as they come." - Parker C., former student
