Yale Whiffenpoofs will be performing on October 19

“FAMOUS YALE WHIFFENPOOFS TO PERFORM IN BRIDGMAN ON OCTOBER 19th”

BRIDGMAN, MICH – The world-renowned Yale Whiffenpoofs will be performing on October 19th , 2022, at 7:00 pm at the Performing Arts Center at Bridgman High School in Bridgman, Michigan.

The storied Yale Whiffenpoofs is a collegiate Acappella singing group established at Yale University in 1909. It is best known for the “The Whiffenpoof Song” and is the oldest such group in the United States. The group is always composed of rising seniors, who often take a year's leave of absence from the university to tour the United States and internationally. The Whiffenpoofs' best-known alumnus may be Cole Porter who sang in the 1913 line-up and the group often performs Porter songs in tribute.

The Whiffenpoofs have performed for generations at several venues, including Lincoln Center, the White House, the Salt Lake Tabernacle, Oakland Coliseum, Carnegie Hall, and the Rose Bowl. The group has appeared on such television shows as Jeopardy! The Today Show, Saturday Night Live, 60 Minutes, Gilmore Girls, The West Wing, and Glee.

Bridgman resident Dania Baig, a senior at Yale University and one of only 14 selected Whiffenpoof members, offered to perform locally in Southwest Michigan while touring throughout the Midwest at much larger venues such as Chicago and Milwaukee. “I offered for the Whiffs to perform in Bridgman and the Bridgman Foundation for Educational Excellence jumped at the chance”, said Baig. Bridgman is, of course, honored to host such a famous singing group within our confines.

The Whiffenpoofs travel extensively during the school year and take a three-month world tour during the summer. An alumni organization maintains close ties with the group.

Doors open at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $50 for Priority Seating, $20 for general admission, and $10 for children. They can be purchased at the door or online at www.whiffs.ticketbud.com
