How many students were enrolled in Marcellus Community Schools in 2022-23 school year?

There were 628 students enrolled in Marcellus Community Schools in the 2022-23 school year, 5.8% less than the previous year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 53% of them were boys, and 47% were girls.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, representing 88.1% of the Marcellus Community Schools total enrollment.

Marcellus Community Schools covers four schools within Cass County with its main office in Marcellus. Among them, Marcellus Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 300 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps widening. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
