Enrollment at Cassopolis Public Schools decreased by 2.8% compared to previous school year

There were 866 students enrolled in Cassopolis Public Schools in the 2022-23 school year, 2.8% less than the previous year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 53.5% of them were boys, and 46.5% were girls.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, representing 63.0% of the Cassopolis Public Schools total enrollment.

Cassopolis Public Schools covers four schools within Cass County with its main office in Cassopolis. Among them, Sam Adams Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 370 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps widening. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
