Covert Public Schools Education: 308 students were enrolled in schools in 2022-23 school year

There were 308 students enrolled in Covert Public Schools in the 2022-23 school year, 4% less than the previous year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51% of them were boys, and 49% were girls.

Data also shows that most of the students were Hispanic, representing 59.4% of the Covert Public Schools total enrollment.

Covert Public Schools covers three schools within Van Buren County with its main office in Covert. Among them, Covert Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 140 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps widening. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
