Paw Paw Public School District welcomed 2,191 students in 2022-23 school year

There were 2,191 students enrolled in Paw Paw Public School District in the 2022-23 school year, 0.3% more than the previous year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50.8% of them were boys, and 49.2% were girls.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, representing 83.8% of the Paw Paw Public School District total enrollment.

Paw Paw Public School District covers five schools within Van Buren County with its main office in Paw Paw. Among them, Paw Paw High School recorded the highest enrollment of 692 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps widening. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
