Watervliet School District Education: 1,452 students were enrolled in schools in 2022-23 school year

There were 1,452 students enrolled in Watervliet School District in the 2022-23 school year, 0.3% less than the previous year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50.1% of them were girls, and 49.9% were boys.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, representing 74.2% of the Watervliet School District total enrollment.

Watervliet School District covers five schools within Berrien County with its main office in Watervliet. Among them, Watervliet Senior High School recorded the highest enrollment of 393 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps widening. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
