Buchanan Community Schools issued the following announcement.

Hi Buck Staff,

As you may have heard, there is a COVID-19 Grant offered by the State for teachers and support staff for employees that were employed with BCS during the 2019-20 school closure.

Find more information here: https://www.michigan.gov/treasury/0,4679,7-121-1751_74806-541670–,00.html

If you feel you are eligible to receive the grant, please complete FORM 5734 and turn it into your building administrator (principal) or department supervisor (food service, custodial, transportation, etc.). Not all staff will be eligible. The staff member must meet the requirements for eligibility. We can be audited on this and we stress that if you don’t meet the requirements, please do not apply.

Eligibility Requirements:

Once your completed form is turned in, Principals (or dept. heads of food service, custodial, transportation, etc.)  will then go through them individually and determine eligibility. If anyone who applies is determined to be ineligible, they will receive a letter in writing stating the reason for the denial.

**Eligible staff must return FORM 5734 to their building administrators by December 4, 2020. If an eligible staff member doesn’t turn their form in on time, they will be ineligible for grant funding.

**If you are a former employee submitting your form, please email Form 5734 to your previous administrator.

Checks are estimated to be mailed on or about February 25, 2021 from the Michigan Dept. of Treasury.

Here are FAQ’s that will be helpful in determining eligibility.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out and I will do my best to answer.
