In an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19 in Michigan in the midst of rising cases and hospitalizations, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer recently announced a new round of restrictions on businesses and gatherings in the state.
However, many are criticizing the restrictions, not only from a legality standpoint, but also on the basis that there seem to be several inconsistencies in the logic behind the restrictions, according to Michigan Capitol Confidential.
One such example is the fact that under the new restrictions, indoor and outdoor ice-skating rinks must remain closed, while ski hills are allowed to stay open. During the last round of restrictions put in place by the governor, she stated that motorized boats were not allowed to be used, but nonmotorized watercraft was allowed. This has frustrated many around the state and led to increased resistance on the part of residents, some of whom are becoming more and more discontent with the state's handling of the pandemic.
