City of South Haven issued the following announcement.
This week, the city’s staff and elected officials hosted tours of the South Haven to Senator Debbie Stabenow and Congressman Fred Upton.
The Federal officials received information on the impacts associated with highwater levels in the Black River and Lake Michigan on the city’s various infrastructure.
Staff described plans to combat the highwater issues, including the placement of a temporary dam at Ellen Avery Park and the planned upgrades to the bascule bridge equipment to ensure the bridge operates throughout the spring/summer/fall season.
Staff is working now to finalize plans for the city’s Waste Water Treatment Plant and Water Filtration Plant, as funding sources are sought.
