CITY OF ST. JOSEPH: Absent Voter Update – Election Day Tomorrow, November 3!

City of St. Joseph issued the following announcement.

As of late afternoon Monday, November 2, the Clerk’s Office has issued 3,315 Absentee Ballots and has received 3,041 back in—a 91.7% return rate so far. 

For the 8.3% of ballots still out there, remember, ballots must be received by the Clerk’s Office by 8:00 pm Tuesday, November 3. Please drop them in one of the drop boxes at City Hall, the walk-up box outside the front door, or the curbside drop box in the alley on the east side of the building.  

The Clerk’s Office issued 39 AV ballots on Saturday and 70 today.

Polls are open for in-person voting Tuesday from 7:00 am until 8:00 pm, at the usual polling places (check your voter identification card if you are not certain):

--Precinct 1 – City Hall, 700 Broad Street

--Precinct 2 – the John and Dede Howard Ice Arena, 2414 Willa Drive.  (Be sure to come from Napier Avenue onto Willa Drive in order to enter the parking lot’s Willa Drive entrance, as Kingsley Avenue is still under construction.)

--Precinct 3 – Zion St. Joe United Church of Christ, 3001 Veronica Drive  

Please consider wearing a face covering to help protect our election workers and your fellow voters.  If you are sick, please consider our curbside service; pull into the parking lot and call the Clerk’s Office at 269-983-6325 and we will send poll workers out to you.

If you are a resident of the City of St. Joseph who is eligible to register to vote but has not done so, same-day registration is allowed in Michigan; you can register at the City Clerk’s Office on the first floor of City Hall.  The City Hall building will be open for voting, but only voting-related activities and the public safety department will be open, the other offices are closed as a number of staff members are assisting the Clerk’s Office.
