ANDREWS UNIVERSITY: Andrews Switches to Remote Learning Nov. 18

Sign

Andrews University issued the following announcement.

Dear Andrews University community:

In a press conference just completed this evening, Sunday, Nov. 15, 2020, Governor Whitmer has announced new statewide restrictions to combat COVID-19, including some that will directly impact Andrews University and its operations.

Here are the specific aspects of the restrictions just announced by the state of Michigan that will directly affect our campus, effective this Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2020:

  • All of our classes will transition to remote learning beginning this Wednesday, Nov. 18.
  • Our residence halls will continue to operate within the established guidelines in place for our current residential students.
  • Our Dining Services will continue to operate within our guidelines.
  • Our libraries will continue to operate but at 30 percent capacity, while continuing to follow our existing COVID-19 Safety Plan guidelines.
  • The Andreasen Center for Wellness will continue to operate but at 25 percent capacity, with 12 feet of separation and with no group classes.
  • Our athletics, intramurals and gymnastics programs are suspended until further notice.
The most immediate implication for us is that our Berrien Springs campus will transition to remote learning starting this Wednesday, Nov. 18. As a result, all exams and other classroom assessments will be done remotely for the remainder of this semester.

Students, if you wish to travel home before the earlier planned date of Nov. 24, then you may do so starting this Wednesday, Nov. 18. However, please remember that all classes will still continue remotely through to the end of the scheduled semester, Dec. 11, and travel arrangements should be made so they do not conflict with your continued academic responsibilities.

Please note: These new guidelines and restrictions will not impact elementary education (through grade 8). As appropriate, Andrews Academy will communicate directly on any changes that will impact that school.

Thank you for your understanding and support of this significant change that’s part of our community’s shared commitment to assuring the health of our campus and our neighbors.

We wish you God’s blessings and all the best as we transition to remote learning for the remainder of the semester. We, as well as other relevant University administrators, will share other updates and changes as they become known.

Sincerely,

Andrea Luxton

President

Provost
