The failure of three bars/restaurants to abide by Michigan’s COVID-19 regulations has proven costly as their liquor licenses have been suspended.
Michigan Capitol Confidential reported businesses in Lakeview, Houghton and St. Joseph were cited for violations ranging from employees and customers not wearing a mask to allowing customers to congregate. The three businesses are not the first to fail to meet state regulations. On Nov. 25, Capitol Confidential reported seven businesses had their liquor licenses suspended.
A press release from the state is encouraging residents to report any businesses for “suspected non-compliance” of state orders with directions on how to file a report online.
“The MLCC’s Enforcement Division, on behalf of the Commission, investigates all complaints relative to allegations of violations of the Code, Rules and Executive Orders, especially during this COVID-19 pandemic,” the state press release stated, Capitol Confidential reported.
On Nov. 15, Governor Gretchen Whitmer closed indoor dining and restaurants due to the COVID-19 surge. The order is in place for three weeks, Bridge Michigan reported.
