The Great Lakes Surf Rescue Projects wants you to know about Great Lakes dangerous currents.
This Motion Graphics Video demonstrates how winds create Dangerous Currents on the Great Lakes
Then the video demonstrates how to utilize the "Flip, Float, and Follow" Drowning Survival Strategy in each current. So...
Winds = Dangerous Currents.
And if you are at a beach where the winds are Onshore and there are breaking waves, then...
Winds = Waves = Dangerous Currents.
There are several types of Dangerous Currents:
--Rip Currents
--Outlet Currents
--Longshore Currents
--Structural Currents, and
--Offshore Wind Currents
It is also important to note that these Dangerous Currents often work in concert with each other; i.e. there are several types of dangerous currents active especially if you are at a beach with breaking waves.
Funding for the production of this video was provided by The Zac Foundation.
