City of Buchanan issued the following announcement on Aug 28.
Today is a bittersweet and exciting day for our organization. Since 1978, Lou Desenberg has been the board chairman for Michigan Gateway Community Foundation. Today marks the first day of retirement from the foundation. His principled leadership has taken us from our humble beginnings to an organization that has broad community impact for all citizens in South Berrien and Cass Counties. We want to thank him for his dedication and commitment to making life better for those we serve. He has left a legacy that will continue for good, forever.
We would also like to announce that Karin Falkenstein will be leading our board of trustees into our next chapter as our new Board Chairman. Karin has been a trustee since 1998 and brings with her an extensive list of achievements and recognition. Her experience in education and leadership will be of great benefit to the communities we serve.
