Calling all history buffs! You and your family can attend the Niles History Center Spring Open House on Saturday, June 4, 2022 from 10:00am-2:00pm. See both the Historic Chapin Mansion and Fort St. Joseph Museum at 508 E Main. Guests will be able to make their way through the mansion as they participate in a scavenger hunt and craft activity. Music will also be provided by Phil Anderson and books will be available from the Friends of the Niles District Library and History Center.
Chapin Mansion is a wonderful example of American Aesthetic Style. Built between 1882 and 1884, the mansion features ornate stained-glass, beautiful chandeliers, hand-carved woodwork, and nine fireplaces. Attendees can make their way through the mansion and see all of the recent updates made to the historic building.
The Fort St. Joseph Museum will also be open during the Open House. Here, you'll find engaging, interactive exhibits that display Niles' rich history from the Prehistoric Era to the Industrial Age. The event is FREE.
We hope to see you there!
