Chip & Fog Sealing Program

The City of Portage 2022 Chip and Fog Sealing Program is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, July 19, weather permitting.  Maintenance is performed through this program to prolong the life of selected streets.

The City of Portage has contracted with Pavement Maintenance Systems of Imlay City, Michigan for the program.  Twenty-seven locations are scheduled for improvements.  These locations and other details can be found at https://www.portagemi.gov/288/Local-Road-Project-Alerts.  The work is expected to be complete by July 29, weather permitting.

During paving operations, one lane of travel will remain open at all times.  To ensure the safety of residents and contracted employees and to facilitate the efficient completion of the project, the City of Portage requests that vehicles be removed from the roadway during the project.  Your patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated.  It is the goal of city administration to maintain a safe work environment for residents and construction workers.

For questions or concerns regarding the work scheduled in your area, please contact the Department of Public Works at (269) 329-4444.
