Portage Welcomes Lt. General Russel L. Honoré for Annual Black History Month Presentation

The City of Portage Black History Month Presentation on Saturday, February 4 at the Air Zoo will feature Lt. General Russel L. Honoré, a decorated 37-year army veteran and global authority on leadership and emergency preparedness. The event is free and open to the public.  Doors open at 5:30 PM with the presentation beginning at 6 PM.

As the commander of Joint Task Force Katrina, Lt. General Russel L. Honoré became known as the “Category 5 General” for his leadership in coordinating military relief efforts in post-hurricane New Orleans.  When Hurricanes such as Harvey, Irma, and Ida approach – or when supply chain issues impact the economy – retired Lt. General Russel Honoré is the person news networks like CNN, Fox, MSNBC, and CBS call on as their go-to expert.  Today, he leads the campaign to find solutions to the climate crisis.

Dive into the life journey of Lt. General Russel L. Honoré and explore the Air Zoo’s exhibitions before and after the presentation.  A question-and-answer session and book signing will take place after the presentation.  Purchase and bring your own copy of his books as only a limited number will be available for purchase at the event (while supplies last).

For more information, visit the Facebook event @CityofPortageMI or contact the Portage Parks & Recreation at (269) 329-4522.
